Nokia internet tablet rules?
-> I'm sorry - the N810 does work. Not good - but ok.
-> The software (maemo) is ok - but certainly not more. No usable calendar on the device - only if i hack it & install the primary OS/window manager on an external flash card (I mean the sentence in itself lets me shiver: "Install primary sys [...] on external drive."
-> There is very little useful office/PIM software. Not that there are better linux devices out there yet - but the credits for halfway useful PIM/office software certainly does NOT go to nokia NOR to maemo.
Don't get me wrong - it is the BEST device available to (halfway) suite my needs at the moment. But i realy expected more - i mean WAY more - as this aint the first Nokia tablett.
That's why i don't realy understand the enthusiasm for this dev.
Nokia has by FAR enough cash to produce a top device with top software.
They just don't care as it seems. Whatfor should they? As long as there are enough programmers doing Nokia's work for free.... for years and years now....

-> The keyboard.... well it's better than any on-screen keyboard... yet not more. I had a Psion (5mx) - wich was the ONLY device i've seen so far (in europe) with a keyboard that was REALY useful. A keyboard is useful, when i can use it for rapid text entry - wich is not possible with the nokia tablett - not by far. It saves some screen space & i am a little faster than with an on-screen keyboard. Yet not more.

Only HTC has compareable devices - unfortunatley they are based on windows - meaning the devices are VERY slow. I almost bought one in january - thank good i tried before i buyed. Oh - and the calendar MS delivers - well it's as useful for me as the available calenders for maemo (meaning i.e. - no color in monthly view for different categories > not useable for me)
Psion had a better software + OS (epoc) & a WAY better (i mean realy WAY! better) hardware - 10 years ago (not the tech specs of today's hardware of course).
Example?
Did you try to do one very uncommon thing like:
-> Write an sms on the N810 using a bluetooth connected NOKIA phone to send? (Was possible 10a ago on epoc)
-> Sync your (nokia) mobile phone's adress book? -> Was possible on epoc
-> Edit a logo/sound and upload it to your mobile? ->....

One more question:
You write about installing debian. KDE is a window manager. Whereas debian is a full operating system - where u may choose to use KDE or gnome (or some others).
So i wonder - when i realy can install debian - how can i use all aspects of the hardware? Do you have a link to sites about debian on N810?
