This may be a dumb question, but if I have installed applications on an N800, and I go out of WI-FI range, can I still use them (applications like Garnet VM, or GPE: Calendar, not online applications such as Pidgin.)?

Works just like a laptop. Anything that doesn't require a internet connection will work fine (watching movies, listening to songs). Anything that does, won't (internet browsing, checking email).

What's more, if you buy an additional GPS unit (I got mine for about $60), it will continue to work even if you aren't in Wifi range, and continue to give you directions to your destination, though the voice isn't very good and the speakers aren't loud enough to be heard legibly in my car.
