I don't think that's an issue with Diablo's kernel, deadmalc, just Diablo's initfs. The kernel has a different issue, at least on the N810, where the partition is large enough to allow the Diablo kernel to be flashed, but trying to boot with that kernel does not work. The N800 can boot the kernel just fine, though.
Sorry my bad, my point was that the kernel + the initfs are (I assume) are in the boot partition, and the increase in size of the initfs requires a bigger partition. So maybe the official release will have a bigger partition size in the image.
Of course maybe they just stuffed it, but it's been around for awhile now so I doubt it.
Anyone know what has increased the size?

That assumption, though reasonable, is wrong... the kernel lives on its own partition, and the initfs on its own. Hence the confusion.
The increase in size of the initfs is probably due to either (or both) of WiMax-related functionality and debug functionality. By the time the official release is complete, it might be smaller, perhaps even small enough to fit into the original partition size. In any case, the official Diablo flash image will be sized appropriately for all the N8x0 platforms (N800, N810, N810WE).
Seriously, the fact that an Nseries device (regardless of whether anyone thinks it should be an Nseries) such as the N8x0 doesn't have A2DP after this many updates is embarassing, in my opinion.
Hey, have any of you fellow Diabloers experienced a SSU since the 13th? It's been more than a week, and I thought they were supposed to be rather regular....
