Am I missing a dependency or something?
yes. you need to download get_pass. This deb file will do so. Unfortunately it also downloads an obsolete version of youtube-dl so after installing the patch you will need to download youtube-dl again. Also note as youtube-dl currently stands it will download all of the video, showing nothing but spinning bar (no percentage completion) and cannot start playing until download of video is complete. better than nothing however.
See post #341 and #410 in this very thread. Also in mytube options check whether it calls youtube-dl or youtube-dl-x. It must match the name of the updated file which is youtube-dl by default but can be renamed if desired.
At first I thought my old youtube-dl-x was stale so I grabbed the newest version I posted just above. However, that one gave me a --no-part error.
The newest youtube-dl gives an error for --no-part? You might want to look into that and see if its a bug or if it was removed/renamed. Eventually the youtube API will change and your old youtube-dl will stop working.
For me, that folder looks like this on my internal memory card.
/media/mmc2/N800/Youtube
I run the install Note's file just once.
I usually use go to http://m.youtube.com/ using Tear, setting the zoom_step to 0.8 and zooming in once, or a regular forum that has a YouTube video link in the message thread.
Copy the link using your browser.
Then execute the command y.
You can type y in Xterm, but I have a shortcut of this on my desktop using Personal Launcher.
Anyway, I wait about 1 minute and the video will immediately begin to play.
They get stored in /media/mmc1/Videos.
You might want to change any preferences in that y file if you don't like the directories or time delays I use.
