I just bought a Holux M-1200 some hours ago and read the manual for it.

Now my problem is that the Holux M-1200 claims that it has position fixed, while my N810 says it's still looking for a fix, it has been doing that for the last five minutes. It only gets one or two bars even when there is no cloud in the sky and no huge buildings near.

I added the device in the bluetooth manager and entered the 0000 code as specified in the quickstart guide. It finds the Holux GPS fine.
The bluetooth led blinks 1time/3sec which means its transfering data, and the GPS led is blinking which means it has got a position fix. The battery is fully charged.

I dunno has anyone got this strange problem?

First i thought it could have been the changes i had done to the kernel through some sysctl commands, but it doesn't seem to be the case, cause I've disabled them now and the problem still occurs.

I need some help here...

EDIT: I'm using Maemo Mapper and set it to use the Holux device, just FYI.

EDIT EDIT: Going to test it with my laptop later.

Why a N810 and a holux? Do you mean N800?

No i mean N810 and Holux, why is that so hard to believe?

The built-in GPS is very slow to get fix and that has been annoying me for a long time now. So I decided to get a Holux M-1200.

Okay tried to restart the Holux and the N810 a couple of times, and it seems to work pretty good now. It gets a fix really fast compared to the N810, and i can have it in my pocket and still working, so it's more or less a win-win situation.
