I use speed contacts but instead of me picking 3 contacts is it possible to show 3 contacts which are online at that particular time?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If just the source code for the applets, applications and UI that come from Nokia were _open_, then we could just have fixed all the silly bits ourselves, instead of having to ask pretty-please in bugzilla (which doesn't usually result in anything, as far as my cynical self can see).

Unfortunately, these are exactly the things we're likely never to see the sourcecode for—it probably doesn't help much that the user-space stuff that is open doesn't really receive much attention from the community, either.

I imagine if we had at least one good example of the community taking the source of a user-space application and really running with it (fixing bugs, adding improvements and submitting patches), convincing Nokia to open up some more stuff might be easier (Application manager, xterm, and, maybe, hildon-desktop seem like three really good candidates for this).

Not true, it's just a bit slow, and we don't always get exactly the results we want. Bugzilla is paid attention to, though, and good results do come out of it (just do a search for all the all the RESOLVED FIXED bugs ). Some teams are more responsive than others, though (at least publicly). The browser team (well, timeless) is particularly good about responding to browser bugs (if the answers aren't always what we want).

I believe xterm source is here :

Unless I misunderstood your point.

Yes, the things I mentioned are already open. Convincing Nokia to open more userspace stuff would be easier if we had some real concrete results to show them the benefits of opening that stuff up.

Ah sorry, meh like you say, I do wish some proper developers would improve oss components. God knows, we need a application manager replacement.

I wish there was a os2008 "maemo-hackers".
