Yeah i agree that the ui of the iphone is the best. But only ui is not going to let it excel in the long run. When the razr came everyone in the us brought it like it was the only phone available. What happened then? Motorola could never support thier phones with features. And see where moto is now.

Yeah the Ui is good initially.... its like the honeymoon period when your wife looks beautiful when new.... but as time goes it is going to get boring unless it has more features. The best thing about this touch nokia phone is that it is going to make apple to raise its game and enhance the feature set of the lackluster features offered by the iphone.
I am not saying iphone is a bad phone ....but apple needs to free the users. I just cant imagine the way they cramped the bluetooth on that one. I cant even send a picture from iphone to any other phone with bluetooth and in america it is still considered as the best phone!!! Really beats me.

I'm no psychic nor psychiatrist, but this whole defensive sounding posts and arguments ("HERES OUR IPHONE KILLER".. "IPHONE IS JUST UI AND NOTHING ELSE"...) sounds just a little on the immature side. A little too similar to an envious boy talking about his more popular older brother.

sachin, trust me, UI is not all there is that iphone has over the current NIT. And moreover, even the UI part is excruciatingly important to ANY consumer device (from microwave, calculator, cars, PC and tablets). Think of it as your pair of shoes. If you're going to have to run everyday, you want a damn good pair of shoes not just a ragged piece of cloth wrapping your sole. Try doing your daily computing tasks on a numeric-pad (even w/ T9 dict), that's how important 'UI' is.

In the commercial game, a more 'open standard' and 'more features' does not directly translate into higher revenues for the products. Look at Creative Labs mp3 players (or any mp3 players for that matter) vs the ipod line for a pretty good example.

I love the NITs, probably not as much or as diehard as you do. But I like it enough to want to keep it around for awhile and to have just enough common sense to worry about its long term commercial success. You will one day beg for the support of the hordes of non-techies with a fat wallet to 'subsidize' for your platform of choice for it to live another day.

I agree that the ui is one of the most important things for many non techie users. But i am a techie guy and i speak what concerrns me in this forum where i expect more techie's than noobs. I have the time and inclination to get the best out of the tablets, so i dont care that much about the Ui.

Regarding the post almost all the online news sites reported this story with a similar headline....... so please feel free to tell them what you thhink about it.

I dont envy the iphone, but i absolutely hate apple for its practices. my only fear is that if more and more people buy apple products even when thhey are severely crippled it will let apple cripple them more. So i try to convey what apple is not providing to its customers.

If you dont like it you can skip this post.......... why worry?

I take a slightly different tack on the iPhone vs Nokia thing. When I hear my design friends talking after getting an iPhone about how they've finally got a phone thats "better" than mine I simply have to laugh (I'm known within my friend circle as being a gadget freak). I am a power user so I guess I can deal with having a UI that I have to learn but Nokia phones are simply way more advanced in features than the iPhone. Short of the revolutionary touch screen which is a pleasure to use there is little else there.

To put this in perspective I have been using a Nokia 6620 for the past few days because my N75 is acting up. I have installed native google Maps for S60, native Opera 7 and Opera mini, I have an exchange and imap push email client from dataviz that I installed years ago and of course there is video recording, music playing, web server running, ssh Instant Messaging etc etc the list goes on. I can multitask about 5 applications and play music with no hiccups and have a battery life that lasts all day. A five year old s60 phone from Nokia has more features than the present iPhone and my friends still think their iPhone is better, I simply don't get it.

I don't sweat Apple. Their business model addresses a niche and cannot support broad expansion without significant overhaul-- which won't happen under Jobs.

Apple is happy with a specific segment. Its customers are happy with their containment. And there is nothing for most large competitors to fear, seriously. No reason to hate Apple, either, IMO.

I have seen bluetooth in my first phone way back in 2000. And i could send a file or recieve one or for that matter tether the phone to my computer with it.
Now i would really appreciate if any one could tell me why apple did not included this in the iphone?
Same goes for the fm radio. Why did apple never include this feature in any of its ipods or the iphone? I think they just want more and more people to buy stuff from thier itunes store. I see no other explanation.

Apple just cares about siphoning money from the customers......

I should clarify that, I love Apple I have a Macbook (buying a Mac Pro next week) and have numerous iPods but the overhype of how "good" a phone the iPhone is irritates me.

IMO the iPhone is good for everybody. It called out the entire smartphone market on their horrible, horrible UIs and rattled some cages. The result looks to be better phones and UIs across the board. So who cares what device anyone uses? We're all winning.

I think you may find it is refered to as a 'choice'

I must admit that I rarely use the stylus on my 770. But I have sharp fingernails.
