The thing is, things like chess etc are part of the osso-software-version. As we all just saw, it can have it's uses but after installing, it's pretty useless.

Just run "apt-get remove chess* rhapsody*" etc

I don't think, I'm for 100% sure that Chess isn't an essential app in a Linux system
App Manager is a 'light' App Manager, so a usual user can't destroy his system.

sorry to wade in here, but how are you meant to find the default E-mail app to uninstall?
i recently installed modest because imap and gmail wouldn't work for me on the default email app. there is no mention of it though in the install manager and a search comes out empty.
i want it unistalled because sometimes if a new email arrives it opens the default mail app and then asks me to define an account!

You can't. But Diablo is right around the corner (actually, in reach now, if you like), and replaces it with Modest.

Yes, I can, and do quite frequently, but I wanted to give somebody who doesn't contribute to bugzilla the opportunity to do so and get involved.

This is the 'lasst time you have to reflash' version? Where do you get it from? I can't find it on the Nokia site...

    Yes.

The upgrade hasn't been released officially yet. Some folks worked out a way of upgrading, but it wasn't for the faint of heart, and Nokia has shut it down now in any case.
