I got the recaps of the Mariners/Red Sox to work really well (except, you know, the Mariners are sucking again after a one-game reprieve :-P).

However, I started the application when I knew the game had already started, they're playing the Red Sox again (1st inning and I'm already getting a sinking feeling), right now, and the game button is greyed out on the application.

So I closed the application down again and fired it up half way through the inning. Now it's active.

I signed out of my mlb.com account on my desktop, reentered all my configuration information (haven't been able to do a true 'save' for it), went to the now-active game button, chose MLB TV and... nothing.

So. I shut down everything again, reentered all my configuration information, went to the now-active game button, chose Audio and... nothing.

Which is strange because last night I could at least get the highlights of archived games and now I can't even do that.

I'm definitely signed out on my desktop browser so I should definitely be signed in on the mblviewer but I'm not getting anything at all.

    Nuts.

    Betty:
That is indeed strange. Are you able to view the contents of the config file to verify that they are being written correctly? If you need help with that, PM me and I'll try work through it with you (but it may have to be a little later this evening before I can free up a decent chunk of time).

    jhoff80:
Are you still having major issues getting the app to work, or is it at least loading mPlayer with all of your streams? I'd be interested to know the cpu load before and after loading up the messed up video streams. You might also try running from the command line, as it will print the console output of mplayer, and should show any errors. I may just need to tune the launch settings for the video player. And again, I'm working on finding out how to make mplayer boost its volume at launch.

Can any one confirm a fully working video stream? Top plays work perfectly for me, if anything they seem to be droping frames occasionally (which I've confirmed by running from the command line). Audio has also worked great for me, though I haven't taken the time to verify that the audio follow is working properly. I will do that this afternoon listening to my brewers. I haven't signed up for the free trial yet to test the video myself, I'm afraid I'll get addicted and then there will be no turning back.

I'm uploading a new version again today with a revised main screen. The buttons now have word wrapped labels, with context sensitive colored game times. The layout is also now two columns to better use space. Unfortunatly, I haven't figured out how to widen my scroll bars yet, so scrolling is the only thing that isn't finger friendly. Oh, and because the Angels have a stupid long name (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) whoever plays them will have to infer the game time by the button before and after. And there are now some system messages to help you know the program really is working, and not just dead... atleast for a few things. I'll update the features, buglist, and todo tomorrow or tonight.

I'll putz around a bit more a bit later in my afternoon since I have five more innings to cringe before the end of the game :-)

Man... the colours on this feed from Boston are wildly hyper... .

Indeed, I deleted the config file, uninstalled both apps, downloaded new debs and re-installed. On first run the config dialog popped up and it worked.

No not so far. Now, I am able to see top plays as you note, not perfect but very good! I like the new interface Much easier to read, thanks!

However, I have yet to stream the video or audio. When I click on a game, it pops up a box that says "Launching..." then right away I get another box that says, "Error fetching URL" and nothing happens.

Now, for today's games it may be that they haven't started yet? I am on US central time, and the game times posted on the gui (good improvement, btw) says 5:05. I can't tell off hand what time zone the game is in, but right now it's just 3pm, so perhaps I just have to wait for the east coast games to start?

BTW, the replays are really cool, as this means I can see all the highlights I want, in bed late nite without the tv on disturbing my bride! Most xlnt, thanks!

Well... I'm looking in File Manager and emelFM2 and even though I've trashed mlbviewer 0.0.4 and reinstalled a clean version, I can see there *is* no config. file at all, either before or after I sign in through the application.

Which, like I said, I don't get 'cause last night (probably when I was with 0.0.3), at some point I actually did get access to the game highlights so the application must have accepted my signin information.

    Huh. I'm stumped.

Hmm, an issue getting the url, I'll have to re-write things to give some logging or at least show the error message. I had gotten the error myself a few times, but usually it cleared for me on the next atempt. That error comes from the original MLBviewer core, so I'll have to track it down with the raised text.

All times are eastern time, thats what mlb reports and I haven't added the timeshift option to the config yet, but if you edit the config file you should be able to adjust it to -1 (when I do get the time zones added, I'll set it up so you would select -6 to coordinate with UTC).

Give me a little bit to revise that code so that you can post a log and make things easier.

OK, I have a deb up for 0.0.4-2. What I did to do some very quick logging is simply diverted the standard output (terminal text) into a text file at "/home/user/.mlb/outputlog.txt" When you get an error with the url, it should show up there. If you can copy and paste the text from that file here, or attach the file, then I can see if I can figure out the root of the problem.

Betty, do you have the folder (.mlb) that the config file is suposed to be in, or is that missing along with the config file? There might be an issue with file permissions which I thought I had alread solved.

The file will reset at each launch however.

I don't even have the folder in /home/user/ , much less anything in /home/user/MyDocs/ . And this is *after* I downloaded and installed 0.0.4-2.

OK betty, try the newest -3 version, it includes a placeholder file in the /home/user/.mlb folder, and after deleting my .mlb folder the config worked for me. Let me know if that helps. I also moved the log to the MyDocs file in case the .mlb folder is deleted in the future.

As for the reason that highlights worked, they don't require authentication, so if you had a null password it would still work fine.

OK. Now at least there's an 'mlboutputlog.txt' file in my /home/user/MyDocs folder. But still no '.mlb' folder to be seen anywhere.

Here's the text from the output.txt:

    2008-06-08 15:14:51.014739
    run
    load_ui
    load_conf
    show available
    doinstall
    dialog return: 1

Configuration complete! You are now ready to use mlbviewer.

    Configuration file written to:

    /home/user/.mlb/config

    Please review the settings.

I've got the newest a app and I'm not signed in at all on my desktop.

It's weird I just can't seem to get that '.mlb' folder to appear. Huh... .

Oh, and I'm also getting the URL failure error message. So... maybe that's where the problem is? Or not... .

EDIT: innnntterrreeeeesting. In emelFM2, I was curious to see if I could create a directory in /home/user/ called '.mlb' and I'm being told, 'no (the directory already exists)'. And yet... it's not popping up either there nor in 'MyDocs'... hmmmmm.

You know I don't know what I'm doing, right? :-)
