since upgrading to 5.2006.13-7 my clock appeared to be broken (three houres off).

in an attempt to fix this i found this website: http://cassarapage.com/770/panel_clock.html

i downloaded zoneinfo.tar.gz and tried to install it but tar complained (some magic something wrong). i managed to untar the arcive anyway on my laptop (using Windows XP and GZIP) and then copied the resulting directory structue to /usr/share.

as a result the clock is both fixed and broken. it is fixed because it now can be set using controlpanel.dateandtime to display the correct time zone and dst setting. so it is no longer off three hours as it was before. but it is also broken because utilities->clock no longer starts!

i can't help but after three days with my new 770 i am under the impression that this device is nothing more than a waste of time. i fell as if i'm beta testing.

The time problem is an easy fix...

In "Control Panels" select "Date & Time" then set your "Home City" time back three hours and then select "OK"...

Done deal...

I'm sure this anomaly will be addressed with the new OS.

This clock anomaly is a known one.

Soon after the " 5.2006.13-7 " OS was released it was known that this Clock anomaly existed. The fact is that the Clock anomaly is not an anomaly when it is used in Europe and in countries where the time is 3 hours ahead of USA. The " 5.2006.13-7 " was first released in Europe ( I believe). Soon after this initial release in Europe, when the Nokia 770 users in USA updated to " 5.2006.13-7 " this clock anomaly was found. The update for USA was not changed much by Nokia because soon after this they decided to release the forthcoming OS upgrade with more functionality and features as you may have seen it mentioned in many of the posts here.

Moreover you are Beta testing in a way. Even in case of Microsoft Windows, 98 percent of the time you are Beta Testing because any original OS released is updated all the time according to the need of the time and users, so we have Service Packs for Windows , newer Versions of Linux, Sun Solaris and other such OS.

that's not a fix. it may be a work around for some people, but if you want/need a second time zone it is not even that.
