OK, looked around Kyte.tv, and didn't see a way to do this, but figured maybe I'm just looking at the wrong place. I'd like to send video live from my N800 over my data connection with my AT&T 3G phone, and have it land up somewhere that other folks can see it. Would be great if the app also recorded on the web end.

Is there anything out there for the N800 that will do this? I did see the thread about using the SIP client to make a video call, but that's not quite what I'm looking for here.

Thanks in advance!

Mhm. So you dont want to send the video to a mail address (as you would do to have it on blip.tv, for example), but stream it live? Is this what you want?

A friend recommended qik. I never tried it myself, but it seems they do this. You need a software on your device, though, and from what I read in their FAQs, they only offer this software for S60 and this jesusPhone ATM. So even though qik as a service it's right for you, you cannot use it on your tablet.

(You should ask them about tablet support, though, otherwise they'll never know...)

Yes, I'm looking to stream it live. I've looked at both Qik and Kyte.tv (and a couple others actually), and it seems like all of them only support the S60 series - which implies a lot of companies using the same core code

The email is a problem as I then have to save to disk/card, email, clean the disk/card, and then start recording again. If it streams, then I just deal with editing or managing at the end.

I'll certainly leave a suggestion at those places for adding tablet support, but suspect that they are all concentrating on the iPhone for now.

The IM clients will support video, but presume you are sending to a particular person. Same with skype I believe. Not sure if there's a way to redirect any of them to stream to a URL or such.

Let me know if there's anything else I've missed. Otherwise I guess I'll just have to save up for a video camera with a hard drive...

There are a couple of N800 video streaming solutions for the N800. But I wouldn't recommend them at the moment. The N800 just doesn't have the oompf necessary to do good video.

This is the best I've gotten from my N800, and that was recorded to SD card then uploaded to youtube, not streamed live.

The only way anyone has successfully streamed both audio + video from the tablet (other than via video chat) is using a system that transmits the stream to a single computer. You can run VLC on the receiving computer, which can record or re-transmit the video.

I have a thread on this. Here's my post about video streaming.

I've just managed recently to get VLC to stream video or audio from the tablet. Can't do both, unfortunately. Hopefully the Google Summer of Code project to develop VLC for the tablets will fix that.

That sounds pretty definitive then. Thanks for the suggestions!
