:-( I really wanted to try this out, but if it looks like you cannot flash it again after putting this Beta on I think I'll just wait until it's finally released or someone works out how to revert to 05 safely.

I've never been able to get the windows flasher to work.

I've noticed that since I flashed from linux (the ubuntu on VMware Player) the windows flasher no longer works. Fortunately the linux one still does. I have not tried going back to the May06 version though.

Yeah, you can't revert. Nice of them to warn us of that.

    I'm using OS X

    ./flasher.macosx -F Nokia_770_SE2005_5_2006_13_7.bin -f -R
    Found image 2nd (length 8576)
    Found image secondary (length 79360)
    Found image xloader (length 13824)
    Found image initfs (length 1553408)
    Found image kernel (length 1481856)
    Found image rootfs (length 57121792)
Suitable USB device not found, waiting
USB device found found at bus 002, device address 004-0421-0105-00-00
    Unsupported board (id = 0x0000)

Also, if you enable virtual memory, you can't remove it. I had extrootfs on the old card, and if you enable it, it doesn't switch to that but creates the new extension on your memory card part, so I can't seem to format my RS-MMC since there are no working apps yet.
My 512mb card stands as 128MB extrootfs + 384 MB (with 64MB virtual memory on this part)
    So everyone beware.

It won't even reapply the beta OS. You get the same error.

Who wants to go back?!?!? There is nothing but despair for 2005, now that this is out.

I bet they will release a flasher that will flash you all back. But Why?

i installed the beta and it seems really good. One dumb question. Am I correct that none of the old applications work n. I really liked the plug-in that showed memory usage. Can I still use that plug-in. It sits on the top bar. Thanks.

I know it may be unrealistic, but it would be super if someone could now create some really great pda (contacts and calendar) apps fr the 770.

I tested xterm. The 2006 OS installer app can't read the 2005 OS .deb package.

According to the maemo release page, the old debian installers do not install, so I'm guessing that your statusbar app won't install either.

I just noticed that virtual memory issue myself. It seems that you cannot resize your virtual memory, nor can you remove the virtual memory. It gives you an error message when you retry.

Well, this is interesting...not a showstopper for me, but the virtual memory issue and the no reflashing issue definitely makes this a "bleeding edge" or "developer only" mod for now! Definitely beware!

When installing the older OS, have you tried it with the RS-MMC card removed?
