Are you sure input.ini is read-only? Mine is 644

Excellent, thanks for pointing that out! I have been very slack with actually reading all the Maemo updates.

    I'm using OS X

Also, if you enable virtual memory, you can't remove it. I had extrootfs on the old card, and if you enable it, it doesn't switch to that but creates the new extension on your memory card part, so I can't seem to format my RS-MMC since there are no working apps yet.
My 512mb card stands as 128MB extrootfs + 384 MB (with 64MB virtual memory on this part)
    So everyone beware.
So there is no way to flash the new 2006 OS without Linux?

you can flash to 2006 using os x or windows but you can't flash back to 2005 if you don't have linux.

    Big pluses for me:
+You don't have to choose an AP every damn time you open a browser window; you can choose to have it connect auto to a list of chosen WLAN's.

+Much "snappier". Menu's pop-up faster, things react quicker, the "feel" is a HUGE improvement. I'm sure the virtual memory extension will make this even better, but I won't risk messing with that right now.

+You can re-arrange the applets on your Home page (ie. clock, internet radio, etc), and there is an option to add additional ones (which of course isn't yet supported; it's BETA).

The only negatives I can think of are that not THAT many people use GoogleTalk, you can't have extended contact info like phone #'s and stuff, and the browser crashes sometimes.

But big deal, the device is so much more usable now! I'm sure it's not long now before minor inconveniences/bugs are fixed and apps are ported to the new OS.

P.S. I flashed using this method:

(Worked in about 2 minutes, props to whoever posted that earlier in the thread)
So the old flasher.macosx for 2005 OS works for the new 2006 BETA OS?!? I really want to try it tonight, but I would hate to ruin the new 770 being delivered this afternoon!

Suggestions?
Worked fine with xterm and built in vi (though vi can get tricky sometimes :-))

Oh, VI works fine. I had no trouble editing the file. It's just that now the F7 and F8 mapping for the zoom rocker buttons no longer work... did you get that to work in your setup?
