As far as I have been able to tell, the ability to customize teh three sidebar icons, Web, Contacts, and Apps, is something that can be done only by way of the command line or the use of the program Personal Menu. Both are some solid solutions, but I started thinking about this in relation to the wider acceptance of the ITs when the WiMax Edition makes it a bt more evident what these can do.

Since I am no developer, I only put it out here just in case someone wants to try something and then throw it back to the community at large.

Idea: Email Sidebar Menu Item
Goal: to make reading and creating emails easier by bringing it to the front en of the IT UI just as the web browser is.

How This Would Work:
Creation of an Email Menu item that would replace Contacts. Like Contacts, clicking on it would open a menu that as Open Inbox and Create Mail as first two items. Below that a divider then a listing of all the mail accounts on the device with a number in parenthesees of unread emails.

The idea being that we should be able to read email on the tablet just as simply as we can browse websites.

Hope this works out as something that can be done. I think it would be cool if we had Email, Contacts, and Personal Menu as options for that side bar in addition to Web and Apps. It would make the IT easier to live with IMO.
