Hi,
This is my first posting to this forum & I'm somewhat of a Newbie, so please bear with me. I've just flashed my N810 with Diablo, & have managed to re-install most of my applications from backup, however, now when I attempt to refresh the Application list from the Tools menu, the "Refresh applications list" function has been replaced with: "Restore applications"! When I click on it I get an Install applications popup window that says: "Following list of applications found in backup. Download and install now?". The applications it lists are as follows: gizmo5, statusbarclock, & osso-xterm. Both gizmo5 & osso-xterm had been restored from backup after flashing, however, statusbarclock has disappeared! Regardless, if I attempt to click on any of them, I get a message saying: "nothing to install". Even though the 3 applications are listed in the Install applications window, the Memory required: is indicated as 0 kB. How do I get rid of this window & return to the "Refresh applications" function??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
cerebrum

In the Applications Manager menu, click on Applications Catalogue. Enter the Maemo Extras repository and enter “chinook diablo” in the box marked Distribution. You might want to do the same with the Maemo Hackers and Cobb Experimental repositories. The software you had will mysteriosly appear.

Hi wsiebert,
Thanks, I did as you suggested with the Maemo Extras & entered "chinook diablo" in the Distribution box, but my problem is not in retrieving any lost software. My problem is that I don't seem to have any way of refreshing the application list. The spot in the menu previously occupied by "Refresh applications", has now been replaced with "Restore applications".

Thanks anyway,
cerebrum

See the big rotating circle in the bottom right corner of the screen on the toolbar? Tap that (it's not enabled on the main screen, so you'll have to go into one of the other views).

I'm a little confused, as I thought that the "rotating circle" was for the purpose of seeking any updated versions to the applications already in the list. I assumed that this was different from "Refreshing" the application list altogether, where it seeks newly introduced applications for inclusion to the application manager. Before I went with Diablo, I would get an indication on the application manager screen of the date & time when the list was last refreshed. I have lost that function, & am still puzzled.

Thanks,
cerebrum

Uh, I believe you have a slight misunderstanding of how the repository system works. The rotating circle is equivalent to the "Refresh application list" menu function.

Actually, though, the repositories should be refreshed in the background once a day on their own, so you don't really need to worry about it much.
