Well I should have phrased my question in the past tense, lol. Well fortunately not everything updated and no reboot loop. So is there anything I should still be worried about...hypothetically speaking?

File "helloworld.py", line 12, in <module>

screen = pygame.display.set_mode((640, 480), 0, 32)

pygame.error: Maximum supported bitdepth is 16
This looks like your problem has nothing to do with package updating.
PyGame won't let you use a display mode with 32 bpp because the tablet only supports 16 bpp (65536 colors). It's a hardware limitation.

Code:
screen = pygame.display.set_mode((640, 480), 0, 16)
should do it.
