im sitting here thinking, the default desktop clock can take you to a map that shows two times, one for your "home" and the other for some other location in the world.

but what if one could have something like omweather? that is, multiple clocks in a row, on the desktop, that shows different timezones?

basically i think that the "desktop" is the part of the tablets that have most potential, as you can stuff all kinds of things on there. its kinda like what the kde people are doing with plasma in kde4 (no matter how hated they are for hiding away the classical desktop icons in a folderview plasma).

Good point, and I agree about applets provided the user has more power over them while they're dealt with more convenient.

A location-aware clock, or a multi ('scrolling?') clock applet. There are many clock applets but the difference between them seems only the way they look. Talking about signal-to-noise ratio here (a problem in the repositories...).

You could use the Google Gadgets for Maemo (pre-alpha) together with a plugin such as timezone. (Google Gadgets is not an applet though.)

Or hack something with tzwatch + Conky. (Conky has irritating flashing during refresh though.)

Or a port of gworldclock. See it in action in screenshot here.
