I wonder how to get the C++ compiler running directly on OS2008.

I have tried to use dos-box for running Borland C++ 3.0. It's ok but it seem to be slow, and not efficient.

Are there some "C++ DEB libs and GUI" can help me?
I really wanna have it on my NIT.
Thank you.

There are instructions here http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?p=51696
that you can follow, but they need a slight bit of modification for OS2008 since there are newer versions of most of the libs and things.

With OS2008 you don't need any messing with wget an downloading packages by hand. You just add Maemo SDK repository (the same you would use in scratchbox ARM target on PC) and install gcc and other stuff via apt-get.

I got a serious problem.
I'm using Diablo version which doesn't have hildon-libs0 package, but the Scite Compiler requires it.
Is there any version of Scite for Diablo?

Fanoush,

Could you please clarify a bit more for this code noob, what specific repository info to put into application manager to get this to work?

I tried doing this, but I get error when I try to update in this app or in terminal using apt-get.

Thanks!

In App Manager:

Maemo SDK
http://repository.maemo.org/
diablo
sdk/free sdk/non-free

Then, "apt-get install" what you need.

Then remember to disable the repository after you're done (unless you know exactly what you're doing...).

Well, just tried to do './configure' on a file and get 'Permission Denied' error message...

However, in terminal, I first did 'sudo gainroot', so shouldn't I have permission to do the above?

Any suggestions?
