Thank you for the very quick response. Your fix work GREAT !!! I was about to reinstall the tablet just to get this great app back up and running. Btw, I have been using pyrdesktop version 1.5.0-6 and rdesktop-cli 1.6.3-maemo2. Not sure how I got the problem, but I was playing with different profiles, but could not restart pyrdesktop after saving one of the profile.
just installed rdesktop-cli 1.6.0 for Diablo and pyrdesktop
entered all needed params to pyrdesktop (nothing complex)
then tried to connect to XP SP2 - looks like I was logged in (I noticed XP password check screen on NIT) - but then got only black screen with cursor, nothing more - same screen on N810 and desktop
I must say - my XP creates bridge to allow N810 go to Inet through BT connection - I didn't break this bridge before try rdesktop, computers were connected over BT PAN, NIT had IP 10.87.8.28 and desktop 10.87.8.26, pass, login and domain were right, I'm pretty sure
I pressed ON/OFF button on N810 and immediately connection was terminated and both computers returned to their normal screens
but I found - I lost control over my N810
some interface elements work but some not:
- drop-down menu doesn't appear after tap and after hard button
- click to "connections" icon doesn't work too - nothing appeares
- hard keyboard doesn't work - nothing appears while I type
- some other porblems to access to some settings in control panel
I tried turn tablet off and on but without effect. I got tablet broken by rdesktop. (

I wrote this... put N810 on the table and came to toilet... After I returned - I found all works well again. Tablet returned to normal operation.

Why I didn't get XP screen on tablet screen, just black blank screen? Is that important how many colors I selsct? (I tried 16M colors) What was important?
I wanna try again, but first need some help from creator of rdesktop or other experienced people.
I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. First off, have you ever tried logging in with remote desktop from somewhere other than your n810? Has that worked? It seems more that your problem connecting is with the remote desktop server, or something, and not really specific to this application. It's hard to say why this would happen, but I would first try logging into your remote desktop from another computer.
I am aware of problems with the touch screen/hardware buttons while using rdesktop. It seems like it only recently started happening to me, but my experience has been that rdesktop doesn't always release control of the keyboard and mouse, so other applications don't receive key presses. I've found that if I try to switch away from rdesktop and my touchscreen doesn't seem to respond, I can switch back to rdesktop (using the home button), then go, once again, to whatever application I wanted to switch to and everything will work fine.
Rdesktop exiting abnormally and not throwing any kind of error is not behavior I would expect. If the remote desktop session ever exits abnormally, it should show a countdown to reconnection dialog with some kind of error code (or a message explaining the error). Did this not happen? I've never had this abnormal exit like you describe.
Finally, what version of pyrdesktop are you running? 1.5.0-6 is the latest stable version, but if you had extras-devel enabled you could have gotten version 1.6.0-5. If this is the case, install pyrdesktop using this link, and see if that remedies anything.

I tried terminate or switch rdesktop but nothing worked well. I was unable switch to other app on tablet. Then I just pressed hard on/off button and connection between computers were terminated. On the PC I got lost BlueTooth connection.
I cannot figure out right now what can be wrong with PC and remote features on it. Never used remote access before. But looks like all services are running. There is firewall COMODO running too. But I allowed remote connection to svchost.
The latest version from maemo garage is NOT the latest version, sorry about that. I just uploaded the newest version to garage. Try this new version and see if that fixes anything, or gives more errors.
Since the old rdesktop frontend only worked intermittently, I've written a new one! It's called pyrdesktop, and it's available in diablo and chinook extras.
