I tried to fix some of the bugs in version 0.3. If you like, have a look at the version.

I installed your version of vncviewer, and it works great! You fixed all the other problems in my
version: fullscreen issues, vino compatibility, etc. Nice work! Thanks.

Excellent! This is the first remote access client (outside of SSH), which I have found to be useable. I would really like to see a decent RDP (remote desktop) client as well. A couple suggestions for future changes, if you are so inclined:

    - Trying to navigate larger displays is a bit slow right now, due to needing to scroll the display with hardware keys. It would be nice if a some sort of "shrink to fit" screen scaling were implemented.

    - If scaling is too much for the 770's puny brains to handle, how about an improved way to scroll about? I was thinking one could hold down the minus key and then drag the stylus to scroll around the virtual desktop.

Thanks a bunch for all the hard work! If you need a guinea pig, I am glad to help out in any way I can.

    Hi Rocketman,

I do not think, shrinking would work. Method of choice would be, to have vnc-server with a 800x480 display. This of cause does not correspond to the usual screen resolution. I tried it some months ago, and it worked quite fine with gnome on debian (starting a second vncserver with different screen).

Scrolling: nice idea, I will keep it in mind. I will have to do some other works the next three weeks I think, but over three weeks I will have a day or two.

    Hi,

I also set up my server resolution to 800 x 480 and VNC worked very well.

But as I use the server as a normal PC also, using 800x480 is not the answer...

Server side scaling would probably work. I know RealVNC server supports this. If just someone could build the server side scaling support for this Nokia 770 VNC client ??!!

For me it doesn't work: when I try to connect to my Ubuntu 1600x1200 Desktop it says 'Connection to server lost'
Starting it from an xterm, last message given is 'in framebuffer update died'...

    Any clue?

I think it is the vino bug mentioned on the vnc page (www.physik.de/770).
    Three possibilities:
    1. Try to install the package from vnc page
    2. Use vncviewer 0.4 from the vnc page (not 0.4.1)
    3. wait until ubuntu builds a new package from vino cvs

I have a setup with xinetd and vnc4server which only gives 800x480 resolution for the remote connection on debian/testing.

I will write a howto. Most of the HOWTO

    http://www.ubuntuforums.org/archive/.../t-197964.html

works on debion, only the font

    -fp /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc

and of cause the resolution had to be changed.
