Funny: Only recently I noticed how much I appreciate the way contacts are managed on the tablets: You search for people in one place and then you decide what to do (chat/write mail/...) while you see their online status.
I miss such a thing on my gnome desktop where I either have to go to the mail application to write an email or to a IM-application to chat (and find out about the persons online status) or to a softphone for VoIP-sessions....
Now it seems there's a project that brings the concept I enjoy on my tablet to the desktop: Soylent. I had no chance to try it, but the screenshot (and especially the mockup) look very, very familiar. Looking forward to having this on my desktop PC!
(And the NIT-fanboy in me likes the idea that something I first saw on my old Nokia 770 will eventually make its way on people's desktops years later. )
