Hello! Yeah, I don't support the tone of some of the previous messages, but it brings up an interesting question. Can some senior member give a list of what the standard "vanilla-flavored" repository list might look under the newest diablo. I keep my N800 tablet fairly conservative but certainly test quite a few apps. I just had the Pidgin problem too and certainly believe it was because some app I tried enabled the "dev repos" behind my back! Now that I have disabled them (thanks to the excellent advice given here) the problem is resolved. I seem to remember that most apps will notify you if a repo needs to be added (and you can accept or decline) but apparently some apps do not play nice and enable repos without telling you (like the "dev extras", etc.) which can obviously cause havoc by "tricking" you into updating some app with an unstable developer version, etc.

Thank you for all of the good advice here and I am going to keep a watchful eye on my repo list from now on!

So did you get Pidgin working again?

Sorry, I did not try to reinstall Pidgin (thinking that it might really be a corrupt image). I don't actively use it and was only testing it previously, I was more concerned about the "behind-my-back" repos that I had to disable. After disabling "dev-extras" (and "diablo-sdk", I believe), I was successful in uninstalling the "corrupt" version of Pidgin and am simply leaving it there for now.

Well, here's something. I just tried to go to the Pidgin main page. Not the maemo garage page, but the regular page for Pidgin and the site is down. Maybe that's it, and why we can't download??? Doesn't explain why there was an update today though, that broke it. I can NOT believe there isn't an IM client on this thing, as long as Nokia has been making tablets, that handles AIM and Yahoo. Jeez, The Ipud has had an app store for what, a month, and they already have AIM, and a multi platform IM client. A joke

Oh, I just disabled all the repos that say "dev" or Experimental.

I think I just got it back! Went to the garage page on my laptop, downloaded the Chinook install. Moved it to my NAS hard drive and connected to it from the NIT. Installed it from there and Walla! It worked.

I looked at Fring. Stinks. I got Pidgin to work, and got the browser link working too, so I'm happy again

It seems they updated it, so it's working again.

    Hey, guys!

Sorry about the headache. I did indeed upload a version of Pidgin that would just crash. I fixed it, but then the buildbot seems to have screwed up, resulting in the "corrupt" files. I then uploaded the version that works, (pidgin-2.5.1-0nix2) and things look OK now.

    Again, sorry about the headache.
