jaeezzy is using the Easy Debian LXDE As Replacement Desktop system, which actually shuts down the Hildon desktop and replaces it with the LXDE desktop from Easy Debian.

The benefit of this is that it runs more quickly, since there is only one desktop running instead of two. One of the downsides of this is that this desktop doesn't have any way to check the battery status.

This is FUD and we both know it. But here's a fact: you don't have to logout to get this information.

Threads and splitting hairs. That reminds me. Note to self: step away from the computer and get hair cut.

    Qole,

This may have come up already... upon installing the latest easy-debian scripts and launching debian chroot library libuuid is reported as missing. No big deal to install it... should you add that as a dependency for installation?

I didn't realize that this library is missing... I thought it was covered by my dependencies.

I've installed easy-deb-chroot in a newly flashed tablet and I didn't see this error...

I'll add it as an explicit dependency, I guess.

    Hi,

I have downloaded the easy debian image file from my N810. however, it displayed an error message of saying taht the EASY DEBIAN IMAGE FILE package appears damaged. And ask me if I like to press OK to download again or cancel to keep the file.
I tried both and didn't work. The problem is, the image file is big and it has already occupied the hard drive space and I have no ideas how I could remove it and I don't know where else I could get a clean EASY DEBIAN copy.

Anyone has any ideas ? THanks a lot.

    hi,

I need help on this easy-debian image file.
i have downloaded the file either on my N810 or online. both shown me an error message of "Easy Debian Image File package appears damaged. Press OK to try downloading again or Cancel to keep the damaged file"
I have tried both twice and have no success.
I suspect it is some files in my N810 are corrupted.
But I already have the firmware updated from the Nokia site.

What should I do next to ensure I have a cleand and good copy of easy debian image file ?
where I should go to may be delete files that causes the error ?

I have already gone through file manager folder and it's hard to locate files that I want to search even I have done search files.

Linux is completely new to me and I'm not a developer at all.
Thank you very much of your help.

wendythepooh: I really don't know what's wrong. It should not be damaged twice in a row.

Press OK to try downloading again. This should delete the file and download it again.

i manged to find a zipped debian-final.img.ext2 file online. since the internal memory is very small. i tried remove mapdata(s) and copied it from my PC to N810. The first time I pasted the file. It said the debian.img is missing...sigh...weird. and now I tried the second time, the copy and paste is completed.
Honestly, not just filed two in a row, I have tried for two days.......
anyway, I'll see if this debian-final.img from other source works or not.

I have used Win OS for years but I don't have a single clue about Linux...man...if I could get this work, I'll buy myself a XXXXLarge TimHortons coffee for today !!!!!

sigh....now...I have the debian-final.img.ext2 placed in teh internal memory card MMC2 (as what I could see in the beginning). Now..when I clicked on "set debian HW keys" just to give it a try to see what applications I could use, it shows me the message of "mount failure...debian-final.img.ext2 failed to mount on loop1..."
then i see there's a file called easy-chroot used to mount and chroot into images/partitions and it's already installed on my N810.
    sigh......could I return this N810 ?!?!?
