This whole notion of "STFU its the internet, stupid" is illogical at best..it's simply another form of communication..would you in a phone call conference say things and then go 'wait..stop acting so serious its the TELEPHONE WIRES'... uh...no... well then, just because voice tonality is not heard, how many posts until one can agree that you can get just as much information about how one person treats other people..as with on the telephone..and again on another level in person.. if you met someone in person for 2 minutes, how many posts would have to be written before you realize you know more about them as a person from their writing than from that brief in-person interaction?

..If you can't learn one iota from this poll about yourself or how others perceive the way you treat other people, than perhaps you never will, which would be a damn shame. I don't know jack about anyone on here... EXCEPT... in one way alone: the way they treat other people on here.. Perhaps like me and other geeks, you may not actually mean what is perceived to be meant in your communications with others.. I used to have this problem.. there are ways and avenues towards solving this issue..

A book that I found invaluable on my quest for better social understanding of people's emotional needs (& my own etc) was:

Daniel Goleman "Social Intelligence"

I can't recommend that book enough, and it ha plenty of technical information from the emerging field of Neuroscience to satisfy the factual part in us.. He traces the emotional and social needs, and methods of communication throughout the different ages of a person in their development, and its a very easy read, especially for anyone intelligent such as yourself.

Also his audio interview "Better Parents, Better Spouses, Better People" with Daniel Siegel was really helpful in jumpstarting my personal path of understanding and improvement in this area. I hope it helps and I'm sorry if you feel wronged by this message in any way, it's honestly not meant like that.
