Whether DC is a state or not has absolutely nothing to do with it... It applies everywhere. I have already explained that in the time of the writing.. the "Militia" was every able-bodied man between the ages of 17-65... and therefore the "right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
The first part giving a justification, the second part giving a right. DC may not be a state.. but the people of DC still have an inherit right to be "free".

But the justification is "the security of a free State". DC is not a State. This particular amendment makes particular reference to "State", and is thus particularly limiting this amendment.

Again.. the first is a Justification. Not the only one.
The courts ruled the 2A is an individual right. No matter what DC calls itself it cannot Usurp an individual right. Unless you mean to say that the Fourteenth amendment also doesn't apply to DC:

You can't just ignore words in the Constitution. What if some future president decided, why not just ignore the words "or of the press;" in the First Amendment? After all, who cares that the words are actually in the Constitution? Would you be ok with that? Well, then you can't just read the word "State" out of the Second or Fourteenth Amendments. If you disagree with what they say, you are free to propose an amendment altering the language. But you don't get to ignore words you don't like.
What do you think of people who want to ignore ALL of the words in the Second Amendment, and act like there is no right to bear arms at all? And then you do the exact same thing, interpreting the Amendment the way you would like it to read, rather than the way it ACTUALLY reads.

I didn't read it "out".. I said it provided one example of justification to show the intent of the writer.

Im right now readling my way thru Cory Docorow's "Little Brother". And i can see the need for tool to overthrow a critically broken system.
However, at times i get the feeling that some of the more vocal for this right are itching to use them at the least of provocations.
This is what worries me. we are talking about devices that have one job only. To end a persons existence on this planet.
I think a lot of people would relax a bit if there was a more solemn attitude going round.
Violence may be the last argument of kings, but it also needs to be the very last one. The one reached for when all others have been exausted.
