It's not a single "apt" program, there are several different utilities. What you're probably looking for is "apt-get".
There's also "apt-cache".
To see them all, hit "apt" and then TAB a few times.

if you were trying to run apt-get, it's called apt-get and does exist on your tablet. There's also an easier-to-use graphical Application Manager application that serves as a front-end to apt-get.

yeah you"re right I missed out the hyphon!
The apt program doesn't seem to exist on my tablet, how do I go about installing?
any command I enter using this returns "apt not found"
