OK, I'm still not sure if this is going to be a question or the usual rant... but let's try anyway:

AFAIK, there's a way to sync contacts, calendar entries etc. via standard SyncML from/to ovi.com, which means that in principle it should be possible to use this from our tablets with SyncEvolution (the same way I use scheduleworld now).
This thread describes how it could be done (server settings etc.), but also claims that Nokia uses a server-generated password for the sync-feature that cannot be set manually.

It seems the workflow Nokia chose is to have me select my phone model online; afterwards I'll reveive a text message that will setup my phone automagically. I don't find my 6110 Navigator in the list of compatible devices (which is very strange) and don't want to have it configured with settings that could maybe break something, so I will certainly not request this configuration text message by choosing some other model. Also, I don't trust automatic configurations anyway and would prefer to do it myself even if the 6110 was supported.

My question is:

Is there any other way to configure SyncEvolution on the N800 so it will work with Ovi? I'd really, really like to try alternatives to scheduleworld (as long as they're not run by Google), and because both of my mobile devices are made by Nokia, Ovi is something I'm interested in. It's just that the whole ovi.com-website is so confusing, has little to no information about how it works, is full of Flash (which I disabled because it makes my browser freeze) and keeps sending me around in circles... It really made me aggressive during the last 20min when I played around trying to figure out what it is and how the hell I'm supposed to use it.

I wish somebody could just help me with the information on how to set up my 2 devices so they can access the ovi-services; then I'd never have to go to the website again.

It's such a shame Nokia can't even set up a nice, user-friendly, clean service/site even if they try to focus on user friendliness. (At least that's what I've heard about Ovi... that it's supposed to be easy to use.)

Not to make excuses (I'm frustrated by many aspects of Ovi, including syncing) but it's in a process of Ovi-lution. It's slowly getting better...

Well, given the highly innovative services they provide (calendar, file storage, ...) and the extremely short time since they started... maybe I should really wait and let them become better as they learn.

OK, I declare this thread rant-free from here on, I'm seriously interested in getting this thing to work with SyncEvolution. Input welcome.
