Hi,

After serching a lot i see that the best availible internet tablet is Nokia n810. I am planning to buy it soon. Can you guys give answers to these 2 questions?

1. Is there some better internet tablet availible or new nokia n900 is coming, any ways i am not ready to pay $500 for something better or new, as nokia n810 is good for me.

2. I want to basically use it for Skype. I will pair it up with a 3G phone using bluetooth. Can anybody tell me about voice quality over 3G network?

Thanks.

The Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition has all the same features as the original Nokia N810, but includes WiMAX (XOHM). So long as your are in a XOHM (now Clear) coverage area, you should get about 2-4Mbps to your N810. This is about 10-20x faster than existing 3-3.5G networks.

If you're on a 3G network, it's likely coupled to a phone. Why do you want to make Skype calls across 3G? It's serviceable, but Skype or Gizmo across WiFi or WiMAX is much better. I wouldn't recommend Skype across 3G if that is your goal.

Thanks for your reply. As of today i dont know if Wimax/XOHM is available in Salt Lake City.

Is some new model of Nokia internet tablet coming soon?

I want to use skype for voice chat with my GF who lives in India. When i am on run 3G is only help i got. Unlimited Internet plan on mobile worth $25 is good choice for voice chat daily with no international call charges(that is n810 to PC calls).

Thanks a lot.

Never tried VoIP calls across 3G, but "3G" seems to vary wildly by carrier and phone. I wouldn't try international calling from a N810 over a 3G phone.

AT&T monitors their 3G connections via media net and will slam you with charges once caught. I had a AT&T phone paired to my laptop, used the $15/mo plan. When I got the $600 bill that was 22 pages long, I spend the next 2 hours on the phone with AT&T. They knocked down my bill, but said that media net was NOT for bluetooth tethering.

My wireless is now AT&T 3G data plan and XOHM pick-2.
