Yeah but with the N97 (I think) they announced it quite a long way before it was released to build some hype. Same might be true of the soon-not-to-be-called-internet-tablet range, as there's not been anything for a while, to make sure they stay on the radar?
Maybe - it's just that they always announced smartphones WAY ahead of release, and all the tablets were announced closer to the availability date...
But then again, a little buzz certainly wouldn't hurt right now, and knowing the hardware specifications and form-factor of the RX-51 might help developers think of useful apps ahead of release
And anyway, what else would Nokia show at MWC - after all, by far the most important trade show of this business? Another high-end Nseries smartphone is unlikely as the N97 isn't available yet, and I somehow doubt it's going to be only Eseries, or only mid-end devices
I remember reading on some other forum that the guys over at Mobile-Review (Russian phone site) had reason to believe that Nokia would unveil a new Nokia high end device based on Maemo platform at MWC. That is definitely exciting news, after seeing the Palm Pre and the power of that new OMAP processor I am looking forward to seeing a demonstration of Maemo running with all that processing power.
It sounds like there is no support for high definition output however, just regular video out which is disappointing, I was really hoping for support for at least vga out and maybe even DVI/HDMI.
if it's true that a new device will be presented in 2 weeks - where are the traditional "leaked images"? don't they usually appear a few weeks before the event? come on, don't break the tradition.

Also... isn't there public records of FCC approval first.
Yeah, but with the price cuts, I'd say it's likely to be announced soon, and have a longer announcement/shipping delay than previously, on par with the N97.
I'm with Benson on this. Longer lead time on this, partly because the SDKs tell us so much about the device it is kind of silly to keep on hiding the details, and partly because we know that they've got the devices in-house looking pretty much finished. So I say we'll get some kind of announcement, maybe even a picture or even a quick glimpse at a prototype, but I'm sure there'll be nothing on store shelves until, at least, after the beta SDK.
