Grrrr! I bought a 770 off a guy on Ebay. I get to play with it for three glorius hours before deciding to flash OS2006 onto it. Then.... white screen of death!

I live in Canada, and I won't bore you with the rigamarole I went through with Nokia support on this. But for those of you that live in Canada and have a 770 requiring warranty work that you purchased in the states, here is how you go about getting it fixed.

1)Use the following method to get the proper return form. This form is for the Fort Worth, TX repair centre, which is the one they repair the 770's at. DO NOT USE THEIR ONLINE FORM SYSTEM! That system gives you the form for the Floriday repair centre which will simply ship it to the Fort Worth centre, thus delaying your repair.

a) go to http://www.nokiausa.com/support/repa...,2846,,00.html
b) for serial number put: 123456789012345
c) for zip code, put any US zip code (I use 90210 )
d) for do you have proof of purchase? select yes.
e) click on Submit. This will bring you to a new webpage where:
f) for Phone Model select Nokia 770
g) for Product code put: 123456789012
h) click submit You will be sent to the page that contains the repair form pdf.

(I would have just attached it to this post but it was too large)

2) On the form, use your canadian address as the address they should ship it back to. NOKIA USA WILL SHIP BACK TO CANADA despite what Nokia Canada service may tell you. This is a special arrangement that has been set up.

3) (optional) Contact Nokia Canada service and ask them to notify the US repair centre that they have a 770 coming in from Canada. You may or may not need to do this. This arrangement between the two Nokia centres is new so not everyone may know that they can fix and send something back to Canada. If Nokia Canada starts giving you grief about this, ask to speak to a manager. Even if front line support is not aware of the details of how the 770 is dealt with, the manager certainly will be.

4) Ship your 770 and hope/pray/sacrifice to the Flying Spagetti Monster that they won't take to long to fix your lovely toy that you only had for three &%$!@# hours.

Hope this helps other Canucks
Norman
