Can I strem FLAC over UPnP? So far I haven't been able to. This is really important to me since I rip all my audio to flac and store it on my server PC.
I don't want to have to triple-convert to MP3 just to access music over the network, please say I can access FLAC through MPlayer over UPnP!
One other thing - where is this "Car mode" feature that is mentioned in the first post of this thread? I'd love somehting like this, but I'll be damned if I can figure out where/how to turn it on.

Car Mode is simply fullscreen mode. When songs are playing, press the fullscreen button (I use an N800, where it is on the top in the middle of the three-buttons). Right now in fullscreen mode the left and right arrows are bunched together on the right side of the screen. (I'm pretty sure this bunching was discussed earlier in this thread, but I'm too lazy to look it up. I hope it changes back to "one arrow on each side of the screen" in the next version.)

Yes, FLAC streams perfectly over UPnP as long as the UPnP server recognizes the FLAC files and reports them as being music. Not all UPnP server know about FLAC, though.
I'm using Rhythmbox on Linux with UPnP plugin as my media server at home and it handles FLAC just fine.

Car mode is the fullscreen mode in the music player. It's not there on the N900 yet.

Thanks for the reply, I discovered this on my own through the tedious process of comparing all available UPNP servers on a wikipedia page.
After lengthy trial and error, I settled on the very generic and Linux-like FUPPES for my Win XP machine. It streams FLAC, and also my big JPEG's, very well!
Another nice addition to the N900's suite of abilities, hurrah!
This might have been mentioned before but here goes anyway:
I have a problem with the volume control during audio/video playback
If I set the system volume to full and then change the volume with the slider or the hw-buttons in the MediaBox, the system volume drops back to default (about 2/3).
any idea when the widget will be release ? and the new update ?
Oh and will it be possible that it will swith from landscape to portrait with the accelerometer ?
I don't know about the widget, because somebody else is doing that.
The update has been just uploaded to the maemo builder and should arrive in extras-testing soon.
There is no automatic screen rotation from landscape to portrait because automatic screen rotation is not only pretty but terribly annoying IMHO.
Oh well, I'll add a switch for enabling automatic rotation in the preferences section later.
