Getting the thread back on track as it is actually an interesting topic..

This poll actually shows some interesting results which match with what I claimed in the other thread - that people vote mostly on what they want to see as part of the feed. Which is definately something valuable for further decisions regarding Planet Maemo.

Seeing that people care enough to (probably log in) and vote for a post shows there's a merit to the post in one way or the other though. No matter if it was a thumbs up or down, in this age of skimming a page and then on to the next if you don't care, it has to mean something that someone cared enough to read through your post and give basic minimal feedback, which then can be used by the author to balance further posts picked up by Planet..

Well, it tried to be a joke, in the veins of "don't take ratings and all that meta stuff so seriously", which kind of originated the whole thing. As I tried to joke also earlier, with the George Costanza stuff. But I guess you're not amused about this topic.

I think it is fairly normal human behaviour to only vote for something when it is perceived that one will benefit from it. So this would be doubly true for voting about voting.
