I signed up at the LA Times web site and gave them my gmail email address. Last week when we had a 4.5 earthquack in San Bernardino, California I got a flashing email alert on my N800. With this, I don't have to keep glancing at a continuous RSS feed on my display. There is even an extra wide scroll bar on the right of my screen with fits my finger just fine.
