HI all,

I have an N810 with outdated firmware. I attempted to update the firmware from a Vista machine using a micro usb cable that did not come with the N810 as I do not have it. Nokia Support stated that their usb cable is the only usb cable that will work regardless of whether it is a micro or not. I would greatly appreciate any feed back or help updating my N810.

Are you using the nokia software updater or the nokia internet tablet software update wizard?

The internet tablet software update wizard.

1. Turn tablet off
2. Connect usb cable
3. While holding the swap button (just under camera) Power the tablet on

You should see a white screen with a usb icon in the top right.

Is that what you do?

Yes. I did that. The nokia is in the middle and the usb logo is at the top right. No indications from windows that anything has been found.

Can you try another usb port on your computer?

I have three usb ports on my asus laptop. I have tried them all and nothing happens any differently. Thanks for trying to help. Do you think it could be the cable? Have you heard of that happening before?

Is the update wizard running?

I have tried both ways. With the wizard it searches and never finds n810.

go to uninstall programs in the control panel in windows and see if you have the nokia cable drivers installed.
