is it possible to build a media/music recorder that records the stream direct instead of using the mic-maemo recorder is poor quality

that would be great to have, for sure. yukop4, are you implying that recording streams with m.recorder is already possible? could i record the audio of you tube videos with it? i transcribe music as part of my job and i hate to plug the headphones in and out all the time (for line out recording) since it wears out the jack and thats a difficult repair.

What would be REALLY cool would be a port of a program like this one:

mp3directcut

This is a Windows program that can record and encode in MP3 anything that plays through your speakers, whether from the web or from the audio input jack on the PC. It can be used to cut MP3 files down and save the pieces, too. Having something like this on the NIT would be really cool.
