haven't had it as bad with audio with built in media player, but at least I see I'm not the only one seeing massive battery drain with video.

3. 2 stock (one in use by Nokia E71). One Mugen. Its great because I can swap them around thus getting the device I need to get working to work. Usually that is the E71 though.

Streaming audio sucks power, but vagalume seems to suck way less power than the internet radio application.

Well, I've found that, unless I'm on the move, if I'm doing something that sucks a lot of power, I either plug in the tablet, or attach a battery pack to it. That seems to do the job. It works well on flights too.

OK, I have...
  • 2 spare Nokia batteries (originals, since I'm running Mugen 2.6Ah in an N800 and the N810)
  • 3 gearjuice USB batteries
  • 2 Cyberpower 4xAA USB hubs (which can be pressed into service as USB batteries)
  • 6 B&D PocketPower batteries (with 20W inverter, and USB)
I rarely carry around more than 3 of these at any one time, though; usually one or two of the big PocketPowers in my jacket, and a gearjuice in a pants pocket.

True, especially the PocketPowers, although they are sweet for running a soldering iron or glue-gun. Portable hardware hacking FTW!

I have 7 - 3 original and 4 cheapies that come with the desktop chargers on ebay.

From time to time I make 12 hour train journeys and I make sure that I have enough juice to keep me going for xvid films, ogg music, ebooks, wikipedia, etc.

For normal use, mostly I have one on charge and one in the device.

It is interesting to see that Mugen is recommended. When the times comes for a new battery I shall try one out.

Hey Rebski, in your experience just how long DO those el-cheapo knock off batteries last?

Longer than I would expect, about 75% of the standard nokia. They are really there just for exceptional circumstances and sit in the bottom of the carry case so the Nokia's get used first and the journey tends to be over before they are spent.

I didn't specially buy them but they came with the desktop charger which is an invaluable accessory imho.
