With the single question - how much bigger would you let the device get ? With a DSLR or a video cam, the size difference of SD vs microSD doesn't matter. At anything that is supposed to go into your pocket, it does. That's why you don't see too many phones sporting full sized SD cards (no matter how big they are), even though they should, based on your argument. So it's really about choice, for one person's usage pattern one might be advantageous, for anothers, some other layout would be good. I vote 2 microSD over 1 SD (so I could copy stuff), but then again, nobody asked

Now we gotta start a new poll: what memory options should the rx-51 have?

as long as its full sized SD, 1 slot will do.

Considering that memory options fundamentally affect board layout, I guess it's a bit late for that this late in the game, whatever the choice was. Although you could title it 'what memory options the rx-51 should've had'.

If the next tablet had that much space then yes you wouldn't need it. Though I would still like an SD slot so I could use the n800 the way I did now. Take pictures on my Canon, load onto tablet, send to server.

If you have 32GB internal flash then 2 SD slots is not as important as for the current devices, for a while at least - but that depends on your needs. But there's not much use in a microSD external slot, because the kind of SD cards I want to put into the external slot are all full size, large capacity SD cards.

The problem in understanding in general seems to be between 1. those who think of the Nokia tablet as an isolated device, where only its "own" needs matter, and 2. those who use the Nokia tablet as a central interchange point for a bunch of other devices. Nokia as a company tends to think the first way (the exception being the lucid folks behind the N800), presumably because they make phones: You install a card, whatever type, and that's it. No interoperability needed. That's fine for some, but not for others. Thus this discussion comes up time and again.

So, the N800 is the IT device I currently own, because of the dual SD full-size slots. I'm very curious about what the RX-51 will have when it arrives.

I like to be able to remove the memory card and have someone else print directly from it, either private printer or at store kiosk. But none of the printers seem to have a microSD slot, and so always searching for an adapter. (I sometimes use a N73 with miniSD, but the camera is not as good as in current models with microSD.)

I would like the next tablet to be slightly larger if necessary to have full size SD card slot (and of course larger display is always wanted).

I really doubt that RX-51 will have fullsized SD, cause it's rather big for a pocketable device with such high "technology-per-inch" score. I think it would be nicer to spend available space on the battery, than on fullsized SD. I have CF in my camera but I don't ask anyone to build it into the device cause I'd better see good USB-Host implementation to transfer data from any device I want, not only Sd, ms, cf, or xD.
