I can not anymore view pictures or from file manager: error message is "Unknown file type". And I can't open them from the respective applications, since in the "Open" dialogue, these files are just nott shown.

Any remedy

I had the same problem about a week ago here http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ght=mime-types
Unfortunately no-one had an answer and i had to reflash the thing.

But maybe there is some software that we both used that is responsible for this, what do you have installed?

before it happened: FBreader, Maemopad+, X-termiinal, Xournal, Tuner, Gnumeric, Minimo. I think it happened lately, and my lastINstallations were Maemo Recorder, Minimo, and Evince. Could it be Evince, since this application somehwta "redirects" the way how other document types are displayed? It's a multi-filetype reader?
Isthere an overlap with yours?

O.K., I gave up. Reflashed OS2006. And everything works again. Donīt know what happened and I hope that it will not happen again.

I found this hint on another forum, not tried it though :

update-mime-database /usr/share/mime
update-desktop-database /usr/share/applications

(in xterm, for ITOS2006)
