I'd like to buy N810. I already have ATT internet service which plugs into my usb on my laptop. I know that if I buy N810, I'd need an adapter for the mini usb, but I don't know anything about Linux. I called ATT & they referred me here. Said I'd have to search around for a Linux program similar to what I use on my PC & MAC only for Linux. I think it would be so great to be able to use my ATT with something small like N810.

Probably not work with the USB thingy but if you have the right phone you'll be able to tether.

By tether sondjata is referring to bluetooth. The N810 can use most bluetooth-equipped phones as a modem.

The main problem with those 3G USB sticks is that they really suck power; more power than the N810 can provide. So you'll need a powered USB hub to get it to work.

If you're still interested in going with the USB stick, even with the powered-hub requirement, there's a bare-bones how-to on the wiki for making this work, and there have been quite a few threads in these forums about them, so you can search around a bit.

(If anyone else has done work in this area, please beef up that wiki article!)

I don't know much about computer and its programing. I have a USB 3G modem from
Sierrawireless - Compass 597. They said I can download the seirra.c driver and pppd scripts file will work.

Anyone here can give me a hand how to do this with my N800 OS 2008 Diablo.

I really need help! Thanks!
The link is http://www.sierrawireless.com/faq/PrintFaq.aspx?ID=1232
I don't know how to Navigate to the driver package directory and extract the source. It says the kernel source code must be downloaded into /usr/src/linux. How to do this?

Also, I like to have JAVA on my N800, but I don't want to install Debian, it runs slow on my N800 and I don't know how to install this.

I need great help!

Thanks
