Granted I've only had my NIT for about a week by now but already I've had some reacions from people when I pull out my N810...

I take a lot of public transport and in two days I've had three people (TWO were young women) leaning overr and asking what I was using. And yes..the assumption by them all was that it was a phone. I let them handle it and everyone said they liked the weight and the bright screen.

One of the girls yay'd when she pulled out the keyboard and said that was great as she can't type on her iPhone.

Anyone wanna share the reactions they've had from people out in the wild?

Friend: "Is that a phone?"
Me: "No."
Friend: "It says Nokia on it, what the **** is the point of Nokia making it if isn't a phone?"

I get the most reactions when people see my daughter watching movies on an N800 when we're on the Skytrain. Mostly it is along the lines of, "man, I gotta get one of those for my kid!"

I get a lot of "is that an iPhone?" especially back before the iPhone was available in Canada.

Some kid started taking pictures of me with it yesterday, saying that he's got the world exclusive pics of "someone using the N900 in the wild". Poor bastard ran off the bus before I had a chance to tell him the truth, lol.

Last sunday on a train:

This guy had to look at my screen because I laughed so hysterically while watching an episode of "Keeping Up Appearances" (I simply love it).
He was amazed he had never heard of it. The big bright screen was the thing that fascinated him. ("I can even read the subtitles!", he said)

I then told him he probably hadn't heard of it because it's not a phone but a computer; a small netbook. I switched to the IRC-chat and the browser that were both open in the background to give him an impression.

He said he wouldn't have bought his netbook had he known that something like the N810 was available.

I get asked about it all the time, I just say "Its like an iPod Touch but much more useful because it is a real computer".
I do have quite a few people dismiss it because it isn't a phone.

¨What is it, can you talk on it?¨ Yes/No
¨Can you use it both here (US), and Europe?¨
¨What is it called again, never seen it before that´s cool.¨

Comments I heard over the last two years while traveling.

Oh Nokia you had the world for the taking!

The stand. Incredibly enough the piece of hardware I've received most comments about.

BTW, now that the N97 is on TV here people ask me if that's the N97.
