Hello.I have some annoyances with the 810/diablo. One of them is randomly enabling bluetooth after a reboot, but that's for another thread. When ever a headphone is inserted and the volume is set to its max level, the volume is automatically reduced about 20%. When the headphone is removed, the volume remains at the reduced level. Try it yourself. Anyone know the reason or fix for this? Does this have to do with invasive EU laws restricting headphone volume? How do I get the volume to stay at 100% no matter what? Issues like this show the engineers and developers don't use this device on a daily basis. The 810 engineers/devs probably use their i-phones on a daily basis though.

I think that's the default behavior for the tablets (it's been there since I got the n800 and started using Chinook). I don't know if it's because of the EU laws, or whatever. I don't mind it myself since I usually have my tablet up to loud anyway, but I do wish after I unplugged the headphones that it would return the volume to 100.

So how will alsa mixer fix this "bug" in Maemo? It's "undocumented features" like this volume adjustment annoyance that demonstrate the devs don't use the device themselves on a daily basis.

I for one would want a way to reduce volume. With earbuds and volume at the lowest that produces anything but background noise, it's still too loud, and not very good quality.

I have an extension cord with integrated volume control. I usually use that and turn it down to minimum and have the N810 volume at half. That cuts down on bg noise a bit while not killing my ears. It would be nice to not have to drag around the extra cable though.

shadowjk - You want to install this http://maemo.org/downloads/product/O...ced-backlight/ which allows more fine volume control increments.

I'm really surprised this volume bug hasn't been addressed by the community. 10dB more volume is huge and a must from our NIT's. There is also no good reason to lower the system volume when a headphone is inserted. Even worse, there is no reason not to restore the volume once headhpones are removed. The engineers, or better yet management should be required to use a NIT daily for a month just so they can notice a lot of these issues and annoyances in their OS. After they address this volume issue, maybe they can move on to other issues like blue tooth randomly turning itself on every few reboots, the "click" sound when you tap an item randomly stops working until you reboot, several connect attempts to connect to an access point, regardless of signal strength/quality, and a host of other undocumented software features that may our NIT's a "pleasure" to use.

But in order way, maybe this ''bug'' like you call it's finally just a setting be created for dont blast your output device...Yes cause in fact, each output device like 1/8 jack stereo, speaker amplified, passives speakers, headphones and many others output device have many differents responce in any frequency...

so for prevent plug a output and blast out the device, the system down volume automaticly when jack is in or out for prevent any damage to output device or/and
internal speakers integrity...

but that's just an idea...iam not shure if its ''bug'' or ''prevent''
