Phone (bluetooth modem), N800, USB cable, bootable Ubuntu USB stick. I used to carry my N800 in my left jeans pocket, till one day I forgot to wear a belt... I shalln't finish the story
For a weekend, I'd bring the following: (items in red are EDC, items in orange would be brought for an afternoon)
2 ITs (N800 and N810)
Bluetooth modem (aka mobile phone)
Digital camera and collapsible tripod *
A load of USB batteries (various types, 4-5 for a weekend, 3 for an afternoon, 1-2 EDC)
Laptop (12" convertible tablet or 9" netbook)
Miscellaneous cables, adapters, and dongles
3+ flashlights, a couple multitools, and a pocketknife, in addition to EDCs
Interestingly, the RX-51 would theoretically replace 2 or maybe 3 of these; in reality, I'll probably still bring all three tablets.
* Well, I would bring a camera, except mine is dead right now; as my old camera was tremendous overkill for my non-existent skill as a photographer, I'm holding off buying another in hope that the RX-51's camera will suffice, and/or I find another irresistible deal on a good camera.
