A tad off-topic hence the category.
I use my Skype account a lot and one thing it can not do currently, as far as I know, is to in a straightforward way SEND and RECEIVE SMS messages.

Send:
Send from PC (or NIT) application.
I'd like to the recipient of the SMS message to see my Skype number as the sender and be able to reply it.

Receive:
The user would send them to my Skype number just like a cell phone number and the message would come to a PC/NIT application for viewing and possibility to reply.

I've searched around and found some 'solutions' that mostly deal with the sending aspect but they all seem a bit wonky and I have yet to see a full-blown solution that does both of the things above.

This is a rather tech-savvy bunch of people and I thought maybe someone out there know of a complete solution that would enable the above for a Skype account.

TIA

Sending it built into later iterations of Skype - that aren't on the NIT due to no upgrades since 2007 (much to my disdain, I'll admit it) - however on the PC/Mac versions you can send SMS, and if you use your Skype name, it warns that people can't respond via SMS.

The workarounds, while numerous all are... ugly imho. If anything, I've started using Google Voice and DialCentral and send/receive SMS through that application without incident.

Thanks, yet one more reason I can't wait until I get my Gvoice invite...
