after a somewhat varying seach here and in google, I haven't found anything in this topic.
Since Palm OS and Windows Mobile both offer apps in this area, I would think it would be doable here.

ideas?

you can use audacity under easy debian
but you have to get sound working on debian which is really hard.

Ah yes, I've wondered about this too. Something simple that lets me trim stuff off the beginning/end of a sound file would be useful to me. Audacity may be a bit too overkill for tablet use.
