I looked at the Gizmo Website and found that you could use gizmo to make video and voice chat for yahoo using gizmo, is this possible?

You can make video calls Gizmo (N810) to Gizmo (Windows) using the Gizmo protocol only. And even this is unreliable and may only allow one video stream at a time if bandwidth is insufficient.

If someone has a workaround, please share.

I thought the one of the coolest things about the NIT was the Video chat capability, but its such a bummer to find out you have to hunt down apps just to see it in action, let alone use it... are there any programs that at least let you use it/ turn it on with out being unreliable like a regular web cam?

I have tested NIT Gizmo5 to Mac OSX Gizmo5 for video calls. It works with the caveat the call must originate from the Mac for both video & audio, when the NIT originates the call, we only have video. (Testing was not thorough and the call origination might be a red herring, but seemed true).

Since video chat with anything but another NIT is problematic, perhaps Nokia should have sold them in 2-packs, they way they sold walkie-talkies when I was a kid.

NIT to Windows video works pretty well in terms of reliability using the built in app and xlite. Search the forums.

The quality of the video is a little lacking...

Gizmo was supposed to do video with standard SIP and thus being interoperable with any SIp app.

However , my experience was that I just never could make a Video Call to anything.

I guess the best way would be to use a standard app like Ekiga or use the Jabber Jingle through telepathy ( empathy on the desktop for example)
