Hello,

Is it possible to install any application (n800, OS2008) without internet connection e.g. via computer.

Thanks.

You do not need to have a WiFi connection to your N800 if you have another computer that is connected to the internet. Once you download your application you can transfer it to your N800 memory card and install from there.

Unfortunately, I couldn't install. When I tried to install from there, it opened application manager and asked to connect to the internet.

Two days I tried to connect to wifi, but it didn't work.

Did you select "Settings", "Application Manager", then click on the top left "Application Manager" then "Application" then "Install from file" ? This will allow you to choose the install file on your memory card.

Use Connection Manager" to change "Connectivity" settings. In "General" set the WLAN for a search interval of "Never". Then set "WLAN idle time to "5 minutes". Now you will manually make an internet connection only when you what to. The auto search feature is disabled. The "Select Connection" frame should no longer come up by itself.

May I ask what application you are trying to install?

I think I see your problem. If you download any application file that has the extention ".install" it is like a shortcut to the actual application file that is stored on a server such as Maemo.org. Your N800 must then have internet access. If however you download an application file that has the extention ".deb" then it can install from that file without internet access. Of course, now your next question will probably be "How do I get the mCalendar.deb file? Perhaps someone else can help you with that. Also, I noticed that there is a later version of mCalendar (0.5.9-1).
