Split the thread with new summary (for many reasons, main ones being 18 pages of this already and not having the first post editable by me so I could always link to correct place to start from)
I have no possibility to check right now but I think that some was build into the kernel in the original config. I hope to find time to try that out over the weekend with the n900.
For the reboot issue, could it have maybe have something to do with the buffers set for nat and how overflows are handled. I just remembered that having many connections in parallel sometimes caused some buffer to fillup and once it was full the effects were some severe hangs on the router. If I recall correctly increasing the buffer size via /proc solved the problems. Just some idea
Hi.. I see that you have built some modules for the n80, I would really appreciate it if you would be so kind as to email me the ip_queue.ko to freespinner@gmail.com as I have a n900 and am trying to get zfone to work, the only file I think I need now is ip_queue.ko so I can modprobe it into the kernel.
Any chance of that I would be much obliged..
Simon
Anyone got an ip_queue.ko that the n900 will read? and let me modprobe it into the running kernel ?
I would appreciate it if anyone with that file could email it to me... frespinner@gmail.com
Cheers

It seems ip_queue.c requires netfilter, no netfilter in stock kernel so you're out of luck there, of course you can try compiling just the module in scratchbox and see if it inserts...
Try the hotspot kernel or kernel-maemo, or build your own (see the bottom of the hotspot page for instructions)
I didn't want to "spam" the new thread with this patch, because it's only important for you or other developers…
Like this, you postet a much shorter information about it (without screenshots and patch), and the new thread is kept "tidy" for the average user
Just a note here that I've managed to get the N900 to be a slow, wobbly hotspot without any kernel hacking, using vde2 in Easy Debian and the guidance of wek and greygoo... Here's my howto. I'm hoping others with more experience will step in and help out here, as well.
Amazing. You're really talented. Thanks very very much for this!
