I watched most of the videos, and:
It is an impression or effect of Clutter had a problem with Vsync and lack of fluidity?

I still want to know what THIS means...

"swappable SIM card"

...on the Booklet.

I know what it means, but I can't envision clearly how it will work, how to use it, etc. Someone get a demo of that feature and how they imagine it working.

@korbe: I hope it'll be fixed soon. It doesn't make sense.. the machine should be overspec-ed to do what's being shown on the demos. No technical excuse to have vsync issues on such configuration.

@froid: doesn't that just indicate that you can use your own SIM card? what does it truly mean anyway?

@ysss Yeah, I can put the SIM card in my Booklet without shutting it off or anything. Ok...that could be handy. But would I do that? Wouldn't I be just as likely to connect via bluetooth anyway? Easier and I can still get voice calls on my phone if one comes in.

I'm not sure if I'm actually answering to what you asked, but anyway.. The point is to use the SIM card with a 3G data connection to get online wherever and whenever you want. You don't have to rely on wifi hotspots or tethering on the go. It's like a USB 3G dongle built in.

In theory I guess it could be used for voice calling, SMS etc too but I have never heard anyone do it before and I guess Nokia would have mentioned this if it was possible without a phone connected.

makes sense for a data-only sim-card... at least here in germany there are contracts which allows you a data-connection, but not voice. mostly used in hspa-modems.

@ysss:
No problem with the complex 3D animations, but with the passage of the graphics accelerator from pause state to a state of great work. Problem with Vsync...

The problem may be the driver of the graphics accelerator?

It's a PowerVR (SGX) of Imagination Technologies, right?

It say they are very uncooperative with the Free Software, so it may be why they were given a rotten proprietary pilot to Nokia.

There are plans that give you additional data-only cards allover the world, I think. At least they are available where I live and in my neighboring countries. It's exactly for this purpose, the data-only card goes into 3g equipped notebooks or one of those usb\pcmcia\expresscard dongles.

It'd be cool if Nokia puts a voice client in the netbook, which runs even when the netbook is in standby mode and interfaces to your bluetooth headset for control. That'd be a nifty use of the 12 hrs battery. But it's highly unlikely, else they'd have said something about it in their press release.

@korbe: and nokia accepts such bs? I doubt it.. similar class of chip are used in palm pre and iphone and they use linux and bsd kernel, right? No vsync issues in either of those..

Well, son... I think it's about time we had that talk about the birds and the bees. You see, the male...

@ysss:

Yes, but iPhone is proprietary and Pal Pre is 3/4 proprietary.

It's possible, in Imagination Technologies, they are fanatics of the proprietary. Or Apple or Palm has take a big check under the table.

And Nokia have no choice: Imagination Technologies or nVidia
