I had the same problem a while ago. Install canola-clean, remove all the repositories from the application manager if you added some other than the official ones, got to http://www.gronmayer.com/it/ and add the repositories that contain the things you need, for instance lightmediascanner, and go to www.maemo.org downloads section, find canola and install from there. It did the trick for me.

EDIT: I apologize, I did go to the Canloa2 official site and installed it from there, and not from maemo.org.

Like I said earlier, there's a 404 error for one of the repositories needed (the one provided by Canola's site). If I found it again, it wouldn't do me any good. Also, not sure if it's relevant, but http://www.valeriovalerio.org/ gave me a trojan when I went to it. (The developer of BlueMaemo, and I think he was a developer of Canola)

Really? Would you mind explaining a bit more about that?

He was a mentor for GSoC as well as a developer of Canola, so i wanted to see if he had any news on this or any news on the projects and the site gave me a trojan. I had been there before and never had a problem. Not sure what's going on there.

First I'm not a Canola developer.
Are you sure that you got a trojan from my website, without downloading nothing ? I already checked the server and the wordpress installation and everything seems clean, the cookies are clean as well. Note that sometimes the antivirus reports false positives based in spammy links.

Sorry about making that mistake (you being a Canola developer), and second I really do hope that it was my virus protection software. Sorry if it was an error on my part, and I think I might've hijacked the thread with that post. Hopefully it's nothing, but here's the error I had: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1XS-gS4I-WU/Sq...35g/Trojan.jpg And again, sorry if it was a misunderstanding on my part.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this? Are the missing packages just not in the repositories anymore?

    Thanks

I had the same problem, as I said before. You are probably experiencing repository issues. Make sure you don't have duplicate entries in application manager, and also disable mamemo extras-devel, since these contain lightmediascanner version that is not compatible with the Canola2, at the moment. You can find out what repository holds the correct version of lightmediascanner if you visit http://www.gronmayer.com/it and search for it.
