For all saying the the app crashes when the alarm is supposed to run.... great, thanks for the feedback so far! Spenc3 and I didn't get a chance to test the alarm stuff by the time we'd go the app working the other day, but I'll try to spend some time on it over the weekend and see if Spenc3 is around to give me a hand for a bit. I've got a few ideas as to why it's not working, but in the meantime please don't use the alarms yet! I know it's an alarm clock and all, but be patient we'll get it fixed up!
I've also put a request out to get the repositories fixed up, so hopefully before too long I'll be able to have the latest version actually up there as 0.2.1 is NOT right, it should be 0.9.7!
OKay I think I've got the repositories thing sorted out now! Turns out I had one goof up that was causing all of the problems... seems to be my story of late with things! (Capital O instead of lower case o!).
Anyways can anyone with an N900 please verify for me that Flipclock 0.9.7 is now showing up in the extras-devel repository?
I will test the Diablo/Maemo4 repository myself soon but it all looks good now...
I've just installed 0.9.7 on my n900.
I can't seem to get a couple of the buttons on the settings screen to work - "insomniac mode", "about flip" and "change theme". I can change to night mode from the main screen, and back, but I can't figure out insomniac mode at all.
Insomniac mode will keep the screen on all night at a low brightness level. Only recommended if charging. It overides the normal screen dimming/off settings. Useful if you like to see the clock at night when you wake up.
Flip still has a few things that aren't done/aren't complete and thus will NOT work yet. These are:
1) The about button on the settings screen
2) The "change theme" on the settings screen
3) The "back to day theme" button on the night screen (which is currently missing entirely).
In addition, on the N900 due to my lack of one to test on and Spenc3's shortage of time for debugging/fixing things so far:
1) Alarms don't work... well they show up for a second and then usually crash or fail to play anything.
2) Insomniac mode probably doesn't work... I haven't tried it, but I assume maemo5 has changed the way backlighting is handled, so this will need some more testing/research to get working.
3) ?? Anything else that you expect to work but that doesn't?...
All of these are known issues that I'm trying to address as I have time. If you run into anything above and beyond these, please let me know so i can add them to the "to fix" list!
As of today Maemo4 repositories now show the latest version of Flip... I'm hoping Maemo5 is the same, though it'll only show up in Extras-devel/extras-testing for maemo5 since nobody's voted to make it "stable" yet. (which it isn't!)
A font selection should be included in the settings menu. Currently, if you start flipclock in a non-latin locale, the date is messed up as it uses bogus font, i.e. mojibake character.
Therefore there should be an option to select the font used to display the date etc., so that a proper font could be selected.
